The festive season is truly in full swing, which makes for a fitting time to take a step back to reflect on the achievements and strides made here at Soffos HQ in 2021.
Of course, this year has not been without its unique challenges. COVID-19 continues to pose difficulties to individuals and organizations across all sectors and specialties – particularly when it comes to their opportunities for learning and development (L&D). But, perhaps more so than ever, we have been reminded of the clear market need for solutions like ours to plug this gap.
Over the past 12 months, we’ve witnessed The Great Resignation dislocating the labor markets, employees taking their working habits into their own hands, and students seeking new and inventive ways to learn in the hybrid environment. All these events have offered a strong indication of the challenges that educational technologists must focus on in 2022 and beyond.
Away from the uncertainty of the past two years, 2021 has been filled with innovation and progress. We have some really exciting developments in the pipeline in the new year, and we can’t wait to share these with you when the time comes. But until then, here are our reflections on what has been an incredible year for Soffos in 2021:
No organization would be anything without its people – that’s why introducing new members to our team in 2021 has been one of our greatest achievements, as we work towards our goal of delivering first-class learning to students and professionals alike.
We are thrilled to have welcomed plenty of new faces to the Soffos team over the past twelve months, including Ero Georgiades as our Director of Operations, Nik Levenberg as Chief Business Officer and Avgi Christofi as Marketing Coordinator, amongst many others.
As we now have another two apps under development, we have also brought on new additions to our development team, including Ronaldo Faria Lima as our Senior Full-Stack Developer and Rafael Andrade as our Senior Front-End Developer.
Our people are really an incredibly talented and diverse bunch, and each member brings their own unique experience to the table. We have no doubt that together, our collective knowledge and skills will serve us well as we work on bringing our pioneering learning solutions to market.
In the spirit of sharing knowledge, members of the Soffos team have been imparting their insights with the press this year, over a whole range of topics dominating in the EdTech sphere, as well as in the artificial intelligence (AI) field more generally. Perhaps most notably, earlier in the year our CEO Nikolas Kairinos shared his considerable expertise with the BBC on the European Commission’s proposal of new rules to ban certain ‘unacceptable’ uses of AI.
Elsewhere, we’ve had our timely research exploring workplace and L&D trends published in Yahoo News, Metro, City AM and Forbes to name but a few. Beyond the headlines, Nikolas and Aliki have penned features of their own this year, offering organizations advice on a range of topics, including how they can empower their employees with EdTech and ace hybrid onboarding – we can’t wait to see where our insights land next!
We’ve been very hard at work in recent months to bring our new app, TestMe, to market. TestMe will be the first in a series of apps to launch in 2022 and will allow managers, trainers, teachers and students to upload resources so that our AI can create shareable tests and flashcards – making the learning journey that little bit easier. It will be available in January as beta to those who want to bring some novelty to the revision process, so watch this space…
From everyone at Soffos, we would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Thank you for supporting our journey thus far, and we can’t wait to see what the year ahead has in store!
